Crime Watch
Our Neighborhood Crime Watch is a non-confrontational program composed of neighbors who wish to volunteer their time and serve their community. This program aims to provide a visible presence in the neighborhood as a deterrent to criminal activity. You can participate on foot while walking your dog, on a bike as part of your daily exercise routine, or just driving through the neighborhood with a friend. Volunteers keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report these to 911.
Our current Crime Watch has been active and effective since 1992, when it was reorganized from the remnants from a previous effort from the 1980’s. In 1997 and 1998 coordinator received three awards on behalf of our Crime Watch: Northeast Organized Neighbors, 1997, Dallas City Council 1998, and Dallas Police Department Doris Berry Award, 1998. In 2008 our Highland Meadows Crime Watch group received the Crime Watch Group of the Year Award from Dallas Police Department for “years of service, outstanding dedication to the community, and building a true community partnership with the Northeast Patrol Division.”
